Facebook Push improvements, with more sauce!

Hey everyone!

First off, we now send you pushes for both read and unread notifications.  If you happen to read it in the time that we poll for it, we’ll still send you a push.  This may become optional at a later time in the iPhone app, but for now this is the way it will be.

You may have also noticed that we’ve started to send you the first few pieces of whatever it is the notification is about.  So, for example, if someone left a comment on my status, it’ll show the first few words of the comment they left.  Handy!

We’ve also changed the way we poll for Facebook.  It’s now split out from the Twitter polling and on it’s own server in the cluster.  This may not mean much to you, but it boils down to faster notification delivery.

Last but not least, we no longer group notifications together.  In the past, if you’d received 3 notifications since we last checked, we’d just send you one push with “(+2 more)” tacked onto the end of it.  Now we’ll just send you 3 push notifications, one for each Facebook notification!

We’ve had phenomenal growth over the last month and it’s been a challenge to keep up with everything.  Rest assured though, there are big things coming down the road!
